Tram Küffer (Founder & Head Teacher)
Hi! Welcome to The English House, I am a mother of two bilingual children (8 and 11 years old) and a highly experienced and certified English language teacher from Canada.
I have a passion for teaching English and have over 20 years of multinational teaching experience at international schools in Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Canada and Switzerland. With my diverse international experience I can easily connect with students of all ages from various backgrounds. Therefore, I was motivated and inspired to start my own English language school to promote my teaching philosophy – provide a warm and supportive learning environment where learning meets FUN at every age!
My education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Western University and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) with honours certification. In addtition to completed post graduate continuing education courses in early childhood education, I am studying for AMI Montessori 3 – 6 years certification.
My goal is to provide a personalised, nuturing and stimulating learning environment where children are encouraged to play, explore, discover and learn English at their own pace through creative play and interactive activities using all 5 senses. For students, teens and adults, my aim is to deliver lively, motivating and effective English courses that enable students to achieve learning objectives while speaking English easily and confidently.
Anna Mulvey (English Teacher)
Hi, I`m Anna from Ireland!
With over 25 years of professional experience teaching children and adults in Portugal and Switzerland, I am a highly dedicated and passionate English teacher. My qualifications include Celta (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate and Certificate in Teaching English to Young Learners from Cambridge University.
In addition, I obtained my SVEB Certificate (Certificate of the Swiss Federation for Adult Learning) in Bern. My goal is to motivate and engage students through effective lessons tailored to their individual goals.
Vanessa Michel (Zumba & Yoga Teacher)
Hi, I’m Vanessa from Switzerland!
I grew up speaking both English and Swiss German, as my dad is from the UK. I also spent several years living in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, and today I live in Murten – a wonderfully multilingual town where French and German naturally come together.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Multilingual Communication (English, French and German) as well as a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, languages and working with people have always been an important part of my life. I have always loved learning languages, travelling, and, most of all, spending time with children.
My passion for working with children led me to work as a Kids Animator in Mallorca and to complete a traineeship at a school in Costa Rica. I have now been working as a Kids Animator for many years, and it has truly become my passion.
I create fun, creative and active experiences for children through Zumba and Yoga Kids classes. These engaging classes combine movement, creativity and plenty of fun, helping children build confidence, coordination and a love for staying active — all in a positive and supportive English immersion environment.
I’m delighted to bring these fun and active activities to The English House Bern, where I look forward to inspiring children through movement, and creativity while creating joyful experiences and wonderful memories along the way!
Our Curriculum
Speaking English is at the core of our teaching philosophy at The English House! We apply a variety of creative, engaging and effective strategies.
For the children`s courses we follow Montessori concepts, play-based learning, active and immersive learning methods. For the students’, teens’ and adults’ courses we use active and immersive learning techniques along with the communicative tasked based language approach. All our courses are student-centered and provide joyful personalized learning experiences that are designed to achieve learning objectives.
